FAX COVERSHEET CAMBPELL UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT DATE: 1/15/08 TO: [Local
Legislators] FROM: Dr.
Johanna VanderMolen, Superintendent Campbell
Union School District SUBJECT: Budget Cuts for Schools MESSAGE: Please
protect public education from the deep cuts proposed by the Governor.
Proposed funding cuts of $4.8 billion for public schools is just
unconscionable. It serves all of us to support the education of our
children, the future innovators and leaders of California, whole-heartedly
and without reserve. They deserve no less. We deserve no less! School
funding for California is already deeply under funded, 46th in the nation in
per-pupil spending, and that is before this new round of cuts!
California's schools cannot afford the Governor's proposed budget cuts.
Our schools need high quality teachers, administrators, updated
facilities and textbooks. Making cuts to an already under funded system is
not going to help. 2008
was supposed to be the year of education reform. I implore you to be a
champion of our schools and build upon the commitment to education expressed
by the Legislature last year. Sincerely,
