STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND "THE HOCKEY STICK"
In Campbell Union School District, we use multiple ways to measure a student's progress in school.
In addition to the California standardized testing program, known as STAR, our teachers use benchmark tests, observation, and classwork.
For information about student achievement in our district, please refer to our annual School Accountability Report Cards or send an email
to ask_us@campbellusd.org
Federal and state regulations determine annual achievement targets for students, schools and districts. The chart showing the No Child Left
Behind (NCLB) annual targets is sometimes referred to as "The Hockey Stick" because the line resembles that piece of sporting equipment.
Each year, California public schools have targets for what percentage of their students are At or Above Proficency as measured by results
on the STAR exams.
